"Tha'irat" - which means "revolutionaries" in English - is a meeting place in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. Every morning, five women - Rawda, Shahira, Mona, Souhaila, and Nisreen - come together in the communal kitchen to prepare meals for 300 people. Various communities live in the Bekaa Valley, including Syrian and Palestinian refugees, Lebanese, and Bedouin tribes. They are all severely affected by the effects of war, economic crisis, and growing food insecurity. "Tha'irat" is much more than just a kitchen - it is a safe place for women where they can exchange ideas, learn about women's rights, and gain new strength.
